Welcome 2020 Welcome Post-Partum

So Im updating my blog, while Mister is breastfeeding. My little one is finally here, as we get the ball rolling, I am still focused on hair but now I have a plethora of other activites that take up my time mostly crafts and taking care of my baby.

Where do I begin, Post Partum shedding is when your hair goes through a phase after Pregnancy, When your hormones are regulating themselves and your hair that was not shedding during pregnancy finally decides to go through the shedding phase

......Worst thing I think I did after pregnancy was stopping my prenatals (I did go back on them)...let me be honest....I was fed up of Pills, Fed up of Iv's fed up of drips, fed up of the carnage on my vagina....(I had a midwife who was the BEST).......Fed up of Nurses and Doctors roughing me up I was fed up.....Fed up of my stay in the Hospital, fed up of Injecting myself...
FED UP.

At this time I do want to thank my husband for putting up with me he is a gem.

So into my third or fourth month post baby......I went into the bathroom to check my hair as I usually do and I saw my hair literally hanging off....as I took down the twists big chunks of my edges were just falling out.....

This is a time nothing can prepare you for
....you will read about it but nothing can prepare you for it. For weeks you will be just removing hair....you will begin to feel like its never ending......You will begin shedding all over the house, you will clog drains and sinks, its an overwhelming experience. At this time get a friend or someone to help you with your hair....dont take post partum shedding on by yourself especially if its your first time.

This process can go on between 3 to 7 months depending, my last phase was my baby around 7 months......it has pretty much stopped now as you will see in pics.

This will be an overwhelming time but do not neglect your hair...do not neglect your body, eat healthy, talk to your doctor, take your vitamins and minerals and supplements, take whatever you can to boost...remember you are feeding yourself and your baby (especially if you are a breastfeeding mom).

Get Conditioners to help with slip...because you will need to get those hairs out without cause a big mass of knots and tangles on your head.  (keep your hair sectioned during this time, its much easier to handle).

Dont let anyone make you feel bad about the hair you are losing its a normal cycle and it will grow back.....

Most times to be honest I didnt have the time to do anything except wash and condition....and around this time soon after baby your hair will be neglected...its normal dont feel bad about it, hair will be the least of your issues.

Get rest during your maternity leave get as much rest as you can sleep with baby, the house and everything will be neglected, cleaning will be neglected....but focus on you.

Losing hair is stressful its going to be stressful there is nothing at the time that will comfort you except the fact that its going to grow back with time....

Not everyone will go through post-partum shedding, not everyone will experience it...
Im really on the fence as to whether I accepted it, but taking it on was an experience.

What am I on now Vitamin D, Vitamins and MSM (for my old bones lol). I wont put brands because everything doesnt work for everyone and you guys will need to check your medical practitioner.

So this is my rant...its over now until next time...

Herbal tea Retexurizing spray

Herbal Tea Retexturizing Spray

Today I am going to share a herbal DIY spray with you, this spray detangles and conditions hair and is a great refresher spray or leave in conditioner before you seal your hair with oils and butters.

To begin you are going to need the following ingredients:

8oz of water (distilled), the purer your water the long the shelf life of your product, I only want the mixture to last about one week and a half so I dont make much (use about 9 ounces so that when the water comes to a boil it reduces to 8)
1/2 teaspoon of basil
1/2 teaspoon of nettle
1/2 teaspoon of catnip
1/2 teaspoon of rosemary
1/4 teaspoon horsetail
1 loose teaspoon of calendula

Step 1

Bring water to a rolling boil

Step 2

Add your herbs and leave you steep as if you were making a herbal tea
(about 2 to 3 hours)

Step 3

After steeping, strain your final product (through a finer strainer to catch the sediments, it will be a dark coloured liquid which you can now put in your spray bottle and use

Step 4 (optional)

DIY products such as these do not have a long shelf life, I just add a pinch of potassium sorbate for a longer shelf life

From the first time you use this mix you will experience softer hair which will be super easy to detangle, soft and light, if you have coloured hair be careful as colour deposits can build on your hair and offset your hair colour. Hope you try the recipe you will not regret it, I can assure you it is that good. The calendula (marigold herb has great "slip" properties or mucilage which is great for detangling hair, catnip keeps your split ends at bay, rosemary and horsetail soften and strengthen and nettle has antifungal properties, so enjoy your herb tea leave in spray

Most of these herbs above you can aquire at the grocery store the calendula and catnip you can purchase from your local online store or a herbal store in your area.

Castor/Mustard Oil, Honey Hair Treatment

Castor/Mustard Oil, Honey Hair Treatment

Hey Hey Hey havent posted for a while WOW, ok so here goes, this is a simple hair TREAT, your hair will love it I can assure you.................

Ingredients

3oz of Castor Oil
1oz of Mustard Oil
Honey (depending on how much hair you have) I put the honey in a separate bottle because i just rather it that way

Optional Ingredients
10 drops of Argan Oil
5 drops of jojoba oil
2 drops of lemon essential oil
2 drops of orange essential oil
2 drops of lavender essential oil
2 drops of rosemary oil

Directions

1. Put all Ingredients in a 4oz bottle, you can use an applicator bottle or which ever bottle is easier for you to apply the oil to your scalp

2. I applied the honey to the ends of my dry hair so that separating the hair would be easier and it would soften the ends of my hair, because i prefer working on dry hair as opposed to wet hair

3. I warmed up the oil in a cup of hot water, (make sure your bottle can stand the heat so it does not melt) and applied it to my scalp and hair (oiling the scalp removes build up and helps with dryness), i added a bit of honey to the oil that i put on my scalp and hair

4. Then i twisted my hair up so I could go and sleep, its now what 3:13am lolololol

5. Will wash out in the morning and it will act as "pre poo" treatment for when i put my Clay on...............

Pure Avocado Oil Now Solutions

Pure Avocado Oil Now Solutions

Let me first begin by saying, I have a new found respect and love for this oil, I love avocados yes, but OMG i really love this oil.

Ok so my hair has changed to the point where it is no longer accepting my previous products or oils, by previous i mean giovanni and by oil i mean castor oil. My hair acted as if it had a mind of its own like a spoiled toddler lol, so i had too find something too make it happy again, so i whipped out the avocado oil from my cupboard.

My first impression of this oil was based on the fact that it felt like a silicone, my hair was so smooth, it felt great, that is the way my hair used too feel with castor oil before, Secondly i usually would spritz my hair every morning and night and seal, but with this oil i can get away with just using it alone and going about my business and my hair is moisturized and soft (yes i know they say that oils dont moisturize but for me it softens my hair). Thirdly this oil is can be used a styler I was in shock because I am so accustomed to using leave in conditioners and butters and all that jazz, but this oil proved me so wrong, i regret ever underestimating avocado oil and i never will again.

I recommend going out and giving this oil a try for yourself not just taking my word for it, I assure you if your hair likes it you will love it.

Picture where i used avocado oil as a styler after my clay wash, it left my hair so moisturized and it been nearly 24 hours now since i put it in yesterday, it mmmmmmmmmm goood lol.

And check out my youtube video on my rough length check its been 1 year and 4 months http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8EGpMGHnx0
